Default iPods (etc) not allowed?

I play 3/6 at Soaring Eagle and I'm confused about this. Last week, as I walking to my seat, the floor-lady saw that I had earbuds in and said they're not allowed. I asked why, as it's not posted on the rule-board. Her response was because "it's just not". I shrugged it off and went to my table as I wasn't about to argue with her.

My question is, have you guys ever heard of MP3 players or the like being banned in a poker room? I thought it was strange and I'm wondering if I should ask the manager. When I'm on a bad run of cards I like to listen to music to keep me focused and awake.

Thoughts?

Tropicana in AC says no electronics (I don't think it's posted anywhere you'd notice, and I don't know how firm they are, but I did once hear someone ask the floor and the floor said no electronics).

Several of the "little guys" have gone to this. They believe MP3's slow the game up there-by slowing their rake up. (Mandalay Bay, and Harrahs Kansas City don't allow)

They need to sit in on the fastest delt games I've played in where we're all wearing headphones and 1/2 a taking intermittent phone calls. Bellagio! Either they know how to keep a game going or people playing there respect the game enough to keep it rolling.

Good luck,
Kevin

By little guys, I mean anyone that takes poker less seriously than Bellagio, Wynn, and possibly MGM now.
