Default Well Played?

Villain seems to be a pretty solid TAG. Should I be defending with hands such as this, or would most people fold? Once I do hit, I'm not sure of a good line to go with.

Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (6 max, 6 handed) FTR converter on zerodivide.cx

Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises</font>, <font color="#666666">2 folds</font>, Hero calls.

Flop: (4.33 SB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, <font color="#CC3333">CO raises</font>, Hero calls.

Turn: (4.16 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>, CO calls.

River: (6.16 BB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">Hero bets</font>

Should I have 3-bet this flop, should I have tried to C/R? I think the turn donkbet was essential.

CR the flop. Part of the reason you can defend with stuff like this is because you are essentailly getting 4.5:1 when you include the auto flop bet from the PFR.

If you are going to donk it, then I like bet/3betting.

Preflop: I'd muck it. Your hand doesn't have showdown value and you're behind to most hands CO will raise with here.

Flop: Check/raise. IMO, one of the biggest mistakes you can make in the BB in shorthanded poker is calling late position raises too frequently, and then betting out if you hit or check/folding when you miss. First off, you are tremendously easy to read when you play like this. More importantly, even if your opponent does not catch on your play is -EV because you won't be hitting enough to justify putting an extra SB in the pot preflop. There is a discussion of this in the shorthanded section of HEPFAP and I suggest you read it.

Just my opinion...

I like folding preflop against a TAG...if he raised from the button I would call.

I think you have to change up your play in order to keep your opponent guessing. C/R it sometimes whether you hit or miss. Donk sometimes if you miss. Against an overly aggressive player, donk-3bet when you hit seems like a reasonable play from time to time.

In my hand, I think I probably should have 3-bet the flop. I don't know if betting out was the correct play, given that I don't think Villain was overly aggressive. In a blind defense situation, do you want to be checking the flop almost every time and then make an analysis of what you plan to do after his autobet?
