I may have played my middle pair badly
Hello All,
I’d like opinions on how I played this hand (particularly the Turn & River) No read on villain, but the table has been passive $25 Party Poker NL Hold'em (10 handed) saw flop|saw showdown UTG ( $24.75 ) UTG+1 ( $6.05 ) UTG+2 ( $24.75 ) MP1 ( $29.95 ) Hero ( $26.90 ) MP3 ( $2.60 ) CO ( $19.20 ) Button ( $6.25 ) SB ( $24.75 ) BB ( $44.15 ) Preflop: Hero is MP2 with 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.10. BB posts a blind of $0.25. UTG calls $0.25, 2 folds, MP1 raises to $0.50, Hero calls $0.50, 4 folds, BB calls $0.25, UTG calls $0.25 I considered raising to $2.00 because the table had been passive (mini-raises before the flop usually indicate weakness). I elected to call because of my position. Flop: ($2.10) Flop: 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players) BB bets $2, UTG calls $2, Hero raises to $8, BB Calls $6, UTG Folds. I was confident I had the best hand, and was content w/ taking the pot right here. The call from the BB made me wonder if he was chasing or slowplaying a big hand. Turn: ($20.10) 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets $5, Hero calls $5 Either the villain is baiting me, or he wants to see a cheap river (I’m having a hard time figuring out which). I don’t like my decision to call; I think I should’ve pushed my remaining $18.40 here. If the villain has a set or trips, oh well! River: ($30.10) T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) BB bets $30.65 (all-in), Hero calls $13.40 (all-in) Final Pot: $56.90 I’m getting better than 3-1 on my money, so a call seems almost mandatory. However, I also understand I backed myself into a corner by not playing the turn more strongly. I’ll share the results (and some introspection) later. Thanks in advance, mayesie |

Re: I may have played my middle pair badly
Whats the villians range when he calls your flop raise (which I think is good).
6x, an overpair or 2pair or better. I doubt he's chasing as leading a flush/straight draw into a multiway pot doesn't happen often at NL25. On the turn that $5 is basically charging you for your whole stack. That being the case I think I'd fold. He's not trying to bluff you with such a small bet and I don't buy a blocking bet to see a cheap river when you have so little behind and could easily push. I'm thinking either some sort of funky two pair/straight |
