Then they play in the NLDS with home field advantage.

Against either San Diego or Philadelphia. San Diego has no chance whatsoever. Philly has a bit of a chance, as they can hit--they've scored about the same number of runs at St. Louis this year. But they've given up over 100 more.

St. Louis sweeps S.D. and beats Philly in 4. The only NL team that has a chance to get into the World Series other than St. Louis would be Houston, and only if Clemens is on his game.

Someone should inform Houston that it's too late to trade for Beltran.

Yeah, that was then, this is now. Beltran did indeed carry them on his back. But remember it was when Clemens couldn't quite cut the mustard in the final game that Houston was defeated. Pettitte is pitching very well and Oswalt is tough. But they'll need another horse to compete. (That is, if they make it the post-season at all.)

Clemens fell apart in the 7th IIRC. He doesn't even go *that* deep anymore.

Pettitte is back, true, but our staff looks much better than last year. Carpenter was out, Morris was looking worse, and Woody was looking old.

Plus, their lineup has been terrible. I think the season series is something like 11-4. I think we walk into the world series where we beat anyone but Anaheim.

I basically agree on walking into the Series; as I said, only if Clemens is on can the Astros hope to compete. What makes you think the Angels (Anaheim? ) would beat the Cards? The Angels won't beat anyone if they play Figgins at third base.

The Angels have heart.

Boston should scare me, but their pen is such a disaster that I've got to believe we find a way to beat them.
