Question
Has anyone ever played in a tourny that the the blinds move so fast that it really isnt poker anymore? I was in a 125 +1 addon on Sunday at the Trop in A.C. 10,000 gaurenteed 1st place and man. Starting chips are 4000 blinds at 50/100 then 75/150 and 100/200. The BB pretty much doubles from there every 15 mins as well as the 25 ante. Now, theres a 140 person cut-off which brings the total chip count just over 1,000,000 and thats only if you fill all seats and everyone buys the add-on. Buy the time I went out blinds were 10.000/20.000 ante at 3000. I mean geezz, I finished 11th and BB was 33,000 and im sitting with around 50k. not much to do but just play out any decent hole cards you come across. I cant imagine what it might be like at a final table when average chip count is around 100-200k and the total bb is 75k. Thats not poker at all, just seeing who gets lucky. And thats the purpose of my post. Is there any real strategy to use in these siutations?

Re: Question
In games with crazy large blinds that go up really fast there is very little room for skill. It becomes a matter of who gets the hot cards first and quickly turns into an all in fest, almost no preflop play.
The only thing you can do is push when you have the best hand preflop and hope the board doesn't get ya. |

Re: Question
These type of games become a crap shoot. The final table leads to everyone being short stacked including the chip leader who is only slightly better off than the rest. I find that this leads to either all in preflop moves or folding. You see very little calling and alot of all ins preflop. This is now a game of BINGO and the skill is taken out of the game and replaced with luck. I avoid these games as the fish often win them based on dumb luck.
