Default A reverse hand reading exercise / decision

I thought this hand would be more interesting if I did it from the reverse perspective. I am the villain in this hand, and the hero is my opponent.

10 rebuy on Stars from about 1 week ago, theres a little less than 200 left out of 1500, 135 pay. Hero has about t60,000, and I (the opponent) have about 55,000. What your read on me would be: I have been fairly aggressive, but have not done anything crazy. I ammassed a huge stack early on after getting slapped in the face with the deck, and I would seem to be a pretty thinking player (I hope.).

So... On to the hand. Blinds are 1000/2000, stack sizes are 60k for you, 55k for the SB. You are in the BB with JQo, and its folded around to the villain in the SB who raises to 6k. It is pretty clear he thinks you are at least a decent player from the chat going on at the table. You call the raise...

Flop is 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 9 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. The SB bets 6000, you raise to 14000... He pushes.

What range of hands do you put him on, and how often are you calling this?

On a side note, the table has been pretty tight on the bubble, and stealing has been easy.

I think he has no better than top pair. QJ, KJ, AJ maybe. Or he could be on a bluff, but if I were Hero in this hand and didn't see Villain do any bluffs similar to that, I would probably just fold here.

Probably not a OESD.

A set is possible ... depending on my table image. AJ perhaps, but not KJ and the kind ... the raise should have shut that out. Or an overpair, even though IMHO the opening bet on the flop makes that slightly less likely. Then again, you never know.

This is a pretty narrow range, I know. Hand reading is not my strong side, which is why I happily play along here. Anyway, I'm folding QJ any time of day - I can't believe I'm ahead (edit: frequently enough to make a call correct) with the str8 as the only draw against a sane villain.

Best,

McMelchior (Johan)

I'm either re raising preflop to maybe 15k-20k or folding.

Hey Ansky, did you forget your baby?

Even though there haven't been like a million responds I believe we're entitled to some kind of payoff, right?

Best,

McMelchior (Johan)

Alright i'm giving villain a lot of respect here...

Alright so he thinks you're a good player so you're going to defend your blinds pretty aggressivly, so he's probably not going to go for a steal w/ garbage (this thought process could lead to not giving respect to hero's flop raise, thus could weaken his range, but i'm going to stick w/ my feeling that he's strong)

Alright so he's not going tos teal w/ garbage, and i don't think he's going to push here w/ any worse than TP. And since i decided he wasn't playing garbage, i'll say his range is

JTs, QJs, KJs, AJs, QQ+.

That's a really tight range, probably far too tight. But that's what i'm goign with for this hand.

SB has 99, but since this is a reverse hand reading exercise, you put him on 66, and are very surprised when his set busts you.

How did I do?

Hero calls 100% of the time.

If you raise the flop with TP you have to go down with the hand getting 3:1.
It looks like SB has two overs because he wants to get all the chips in before the turn. He may have an unlikely jack or overpair, but I wouldn't hesitate to call.
