Default AQ flops top pair

$400 NL $5 $10

Hero limps UTG with AQ
Villan makes it $45
2 callers
Hero calls
Pot $195

Flop Qd 10d 8h

Hero bets $100
Villan calls
Others fold
Pot $395

Turn - 4c
Hero bets $150
Villan goes all in $350

Villan has tried two previous all in bluffs, has had a couple of tough beats and hit ATM for $1,000. Hero has villan covered.

Critique of play and advice on whether to call would be appreciated.

Based on description of villian the money is going in on the turn anyway, might as well have potted it unless you were intentionally baiting him, which by your next question was obviously not the case.

Is this a trick question?

No, not at all. The guy next to me said I should have checked the turn after his flop call. I did not want to give a free card and there were hands I was ahead of that would have made the pre flop raise and flop call. I made the $150 turn bet to find out where I was at, and couldn't get away from the all in by him. He had a set of 8's.

Against a solid opponent checking the turn would have been better, but given your description of villian and previous hands there was a decent chance you were good.

No you didn't, you made the $150 turn bet to pot commit yourself.

After your bet and his push there is $895 in the pot and $200 to you with top pair and a tilty villian with two previous bluffs all in.

you wrote "against a solid opponent checking the turn would have been better." against a solid opponent calling a preflop raise with aq would be a mistake. here the opponent is not a solid player, so this is different.
