Re: KQs Hand Quiz Playalong
minus reads, i think we raise to clean up some of our outs and thin the field.

Re: KQs Hand Quiz Playalong
What hands do we want to fold out that are going to fold? Absent reads I don't think hands like k7 are folded. I want to see a turn cheaply and just call.
EDIT: Raising might be better. Maybe maybe you fold out hands like Q3 or whatever that have you reverse dominated, though I do think it's unlikely. But a raise is very likely to get you a free card unless. |

Re: KQs Hand Quiz Playalong
Raise. We may be able to force out players on gutshots, single Aces, some other weak stuff possibly. Also, a chance to get a free turn card.

Raise. Big pot. Let's see a free river card.

Re: KQs Hand Quiz Playalong
OK I've been wondering about this for a while:
- Standard Miller practice says you need to play more aggressively in big pots. - SSHE also says that the guidelines for raising are dependant on: A) how likely you are to get a free card B) how likely a raise is to win you the pot immediately C) how likely a raise is to win you the pot down the line Conundrum or no? It seems to me these these conditions don't exist much in mult-way (ie big) pots. |

One of the blinds with bottom pair might fold here. Hell, if I get lucky and end up HU with UTG, I bet probably bet the turn (read dependant) no matter what falls and check behind on the river UI. |

Re: KQs Hand Quiz Playalong
So we have the following outs:
Overcards = 3 (discounted) Backdoor Flush = 1.5 Backdoor Gutshot = .5? So we are looking at 5 outs, which means we need to be getting ~9:1. The pot is offering us 13:1 so we have an easy call. However, we may want to raise here and go for a free card (if we want it) on the turn? I think that this would be my choice. |

[/ QUOTE ] I guess that's primarily why I'm not a big fan of the free card - It's rarely correct to actually take it when you get the chance, and if you don't get it HU there's a good chance you might not get the opportunity. I forget what the exact % is, but I think it needs to work something like 80% of the time. Although in this case, I agree that the reasonable possibility of getting a better hand to fold is another checkmark for the raising argument. |
