Poker Spring Break - where in Europe to go?
I hear a lot of good things about Gutshot and Victoria in London, but I can't imagine the weather would be that great either (I'm from Massachusetts, a little warmth would be nice). Also wouldn't mind going to Sweden, Spain, or France (Aviation Club looks great). Outside of Europe, Costa Rica and Aruba would be nice, too.
Non-hold'em games are no problem for me, I'm pretty decent in any stud/Omaha/Draw game. Anyone have any experiences or suggestions? I'd prefer to play no higher than 5/10 limit or 5-5PL. |

Re: Poker Spring Break - where in Europe to go?
I've been to Costa Rica twice on vacation and while it's a great place to visit, the casinos and cardrooms are in San Jose I'd imagine, which really isn't all that nice a place. If you're gonna go to Costa Rica go to the beach, not some big city.
Sorry never been to any of the other places you menioned but I've gotta say for a "regular" vacation Costa rica is incredible. I'm from MA too by the way and a little tropical heat is nice |

If you're into German stuff, you can try the Jackpot Casino is Innsbruck, Austria. It's a relitivly new cardroom so I'm not sure what games are spread, but it's a nice place.
Other than that, I would go the England route, as I've heard good things. Cody |

Re: Poker Spring Break - where in Europe to go?
Barcelona is a really fun city, and they have poker, but a couple of caveats:
1. They don't speak English. The dealers do, and I had no problem even though I didn't speak Catalan, but it can be a bit unnerving. 2. They only spread two games usually, and they're both decent sized (I don't know what limits you play). They had E5/E5 (or maybe E5/E10, I don't remember) Pot Limit Omaha and E20/E40 Limit Hold'em. The hold'em players were generally atrocious and the game was quite profitable. 3. The games shut down at 5am! Lame! All in all I had a great time playing there and highly recommend it. |

There are some fun casinos in dublin (i like the Fitzwilliam for tounaments and incredibly loose-aggressive pot limit games), but that doesn't help you much with the warmth. A friend of mine had a great time playing poker in Slovenia but I'm not sure which casino.

Re: Poker Spring Break - where in Europe to go?
Aviation club is fun--the pot-limit Dealer's choice game is quite enjoyable. You'll find games here you might never get a chance to play anywhere else (5-card Omaha, Courcheval, Double Hold-Em, and their home-grown "Aviation")
Some caveats (from my experience only--2 night sessions of 5-7 hours) : 1. Pot limit can be tough without speaking French (knowing what last bet and pot is). Most of the dealers can tell you the amount in English, but it will slow down the game if you ask each time. 2. Don't expect a lot of friendly banter. You may get attitude even (I'm assuming you are American)--you'll just have to smile and take it. 3. It is nice, but not quite as nice as it looks on TV (the wood-panelled room that they had the WPT final table in is the club's bar--the normal games take place in fairly unexciting rooms) Overall, a fun and unique experience though. |

the obvious answer: somewhere with hot, drunk college chicks. [censored] Europe. Have fun. Poker can wait.
