Default Making a change... I quit my job.

After spending the last five years doing pretty much the same job -- industry/business reporting and editing -- I've decided to leave. And for a short time, at least, I will not be taking another job. I'll be using savings, applying for grants and hopefully having some income from photography work, to finance a documentary project in Washington, D.C.

I'm scared shi[/i]tless, to be honest. I've always avoided change, but faced with a choice between more emotion-less days in a job that keeps me merely content, and making a shaky jump towards something I care about, I opt for change.

This is not a sustainable plan. I expect to go somewhere between six months and a year working on this project, before I'm financially forced to find regular income. This bothers me, but only a little. I'm willing to spend the time and money on this project, with the belief that it will lead me in new directions.

Wish me luck. Anyone interested in more ramblings on this change can find them here.

Otherwise, I just wanted to share.

Robert

If you have the financial means to live for the next 12 months without pay then you should use that money to start your own business and never have to get another job again!

This is much easier than you think it is and the income is great!

That's an excellent point, and something I thought about a lot. Honestly, it's both. So we'll see.
