Professional Video Poker Players
Is there anyone like that ? I mean sucessful at it in the long term ? What stratgies to use ? What games do they play ? With the older versions of VDO poker and with club benefits, there were machines which gave you an edge and only if you play high stakes to convert the small ( 1- 4 %) edge to real money in the end.
Am I correct ? Any regular/ recreational players with thoughts/ ideas ? Bob Dancer did it earlier and made a lot of money playing 25 $ VDO poker and being "overroyalled" - hitting more royals than he was supposed to based on odds. But now he seems to be making more money with his books, talks, promos etc. Thanks for reading and responding. |

Re: Professional Video Poker Players
I believe there is a team right now playing Dueces Wild ( Full Pay?) at the Wynn. I did not read the story personally but had a friend that told me he read it somewhere recently. Apparently there is 1 bank of machines that are over 100% payback and the 'team' has them occupied almost 24/7. Someone please confirm because I am curious as well.

Re: Professional Video Poker Players
the two main formats that are +EV in the long run are FPDW and 10/7 DB. however, it is RARE to find a ducks machine higher than 25c denomination, so your theoretical earnings are capped under $10/hr (based on max coin 1000 hands per hour @ 100.7%). playing $1 double bonus would yield even less, plus it's a harder strategy to master.
Bob Dancer simply got lucky with his $25 royals (though I tip my hat to him for all the hard work he did in the process), but the majority of the time he was only playing with an edge due to specific casino cashback/comp promotions he was pursuing. the really good deals out there are usually kept on hush because a) they don't want to make the casino look bad and then remove it, and b) the number of machines available may be limited. also, the only place in the world you can realistically pursue a VP career is the outskirts of Nevada, away from the strip at the "locals" casinos. use the vpFREE directory below to see what's available in your area. http://members.cox.net/vpfree/index.htm |

[/ QUOTE ] The Wynn is offering a special deuces wild paytable called "Almost Positive", which pays out 99.96%. combine this with 0.22% cashback and the theoretical EV is 100.18%, which is worth about $9/hr if you play $1 max coin for 1000 hands per hour. they also have 10/7 DB and 10/6 DDB which pay back even better, but the variance is higher and those games are harder to teach others for "team" missions. |

At $5/hand x 700 hands/hour x (.0076+.0022) = $34 per person per hour, plus the value of all comps and mailed offers. This is an extremely high return for VP on the strip and the game was removed within a week and some of the team players were asked not to return to Wynn. My understanding is that when the pay tables were lowered for VP, the machines were no longer dominated by team play. |
