Default Stud (high), less variance than hold em?

I got $5 on Poker Stars via transfer yesterday and decide it would be my nano-stud bankroll, within like maybe 200 hands it's almost at $10.

I've only suffered 1 real beat during this time as well, so I figure either I've been running well or there are less suck outs in stud?

The only thing I don't like is that it's almost impossible to know if the last card hurt you, unlike hold em.

Just a noob's observations.

I think that stud does have lower variance, especially if you happen to be me. That said, suck-outs abound, and they're actually more common in stud than in hold'em.

Good luck with your ten bucks. Last year, Paradise gave me $2 for free. I ran it up to $200, and then I ran it all the way down again. I think I'm around $9 now.

definetly more suckouts. I've been slapped with no less than 3 runner-runner-runner-runner straights and flushes tonite alone.

If you play really well after the flop, I think Holdem has less varience. In Holdem you're rarely commited a pot where your pot equity heads up is near even. Also, more betting rounds, i think, = higher varience. That said, a tight structure like 3/6 where you can really wait around for hands probably has less varience. The 1/2 with a .25 ante and .5 bring in probably has more, and party's .5/1 with a .25 ante and .25 bring in has HUGE varience.

In terms of game structure, stud has considerably more variance than hold'em. But hold'em players tend to be a lot more aggressive, and in a lot of cases better, so the hold'em games online may show more variance.

In stud SNGs, the variance is absolutely KILLER! I can't count the number of times I've been busted out with K2K by 2K2

Must have been 7+ times this afternoon

(in a whiney post, 7+ usually means 7+/-1)

if I were you,I would stick to 5c/10c limit holdem until you hit 20$ or so, shouldnt take too long 4-tabling.

125BB seems small since stud has so many betting rounds.
