Default Playing TPWK out of the big blind?

I'll use this hand as an example... do I play this wrong? Assuming no read on the villian... get this situation often and it loses me quite a bit of money... flopping top pair with a weak kicker in the big blind... any advice welcomed!

the line i usually like here is to check/call a small flop bet and lead the turn, and block bet the river. getting away from a large flop bet, or a turn/river raise

you're not putting a lot in, and this gives your opponent opportunity to define his hand more, as any raise is easy to get way from

I usually bet 2/3 pot or full pot on flop and kinda check/fold the rest of the hand unless I think he's drawing or has weaker pair. Not sure if I'm making money or losing money from this though, but it does happen quite often that I take down the blinds on the flop.

That's an interesting take on it, may give it a go and see how I get on. Any more comments appreciated.

You can probably go ahead and check/fold this specific flop without a read otherwise. Most people aren't betting anything less than TP with a better kicker. Then lead the turn if nobody bets the flop.
