Waiting till the river to raise with trippers
I took an odd line here. I raisesd preflop to isolate a weak player so i'm cool with that. Villain here is 43/10 with turn af of 1.4 and flop af of .4 after 80 hands. When he checkraises me on turn I think this is either a weird line with an ace or a big hand, possibly a boat (although wouldn't 2 pair usually checkraise the flop). I waited till river to raise for a few reasons:
1) I feel I should put in more bets somewhere, even though I risk getting 3bet. 2) I am less likely to get 3bet on river (although boats are probably gonna 3bet me anyway). 3) If for some reason he was bluffing I get more bets. Who calls turn and river? Who raises turn? Re: Waiting till the river to raise with trippers
Usually I would three-bet the Turn, but I'm wondering if your line is better for extracting more bets, as I'm pretty sure Trip Nines are winning here.

Re: Waiting till the river to raise with trippers
I like this hand. I think it is well played and well thought out. Course if you are beaten you will get 3bet in any spot you decide to raise, and this is probably by the boats. Only the weakest of players wouldn't 3bet you.
Either way, you can 3bet the turn (where you would only get called on the river, if that) or you can 3bet the river. They will get they same amount of bets in the pot (if you get called on the river), but it does a good job mixing up your play. Maybe if your opponent is observant, he will start giving you free SD and you will have the oppurtunity to show your weakest of hands for free. |
