Am I taking crazy pills here on the turn?

Table was tight but passive. CO is TAG with decent AF.

Is my turn raise here suicidal? Would a flop c/r have been better? What's a better line to take on this one?

What he said. Out of position, calling 1.5 SBs preflop with J9 off is bad bad bad. All you can hope for is a open ended draw 1:12 (not to the nuts most of the time) 2 pair or better 1:28 and then you can still be sucked out on. The callers are either calling with the face cards that can make a better str8 or the ones you need for the straight. Others with suited connectors (87s, 76s) that are better than your hand in this pot and take away from your draw. Not to mention that someone with a KJ, QJ, AJ has you dominated.

And check-raise the fricken flop to find out where your at.

Now if the hand was 23o well thats a different story. No one would expect that and I guarantee both your cards are live.

You could try checkraising the flop, but unless CO is the type to auto-bet versus four opponents on a coordinated two-flush board, there's a good chance you're drawing anyway. Also, the chances are better than usual that you won't get heads-up. The pot's kind of big, and someone could have a reason to cold-call (or even check/3-bet, though I'm not assuming that's coming). Anyway, though, if by some chance CO is betting overcards plus a flush draw, he's not in bad shape against you and could even be an approximate coin-flip versus you (with, say, A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]), but you would like to get heads-up versus a flush draw, if possible, in this large pot.

When CO bets again on the turn versus three players on a board that's now even scarier, I think the chances have gone up that he's ahead of you, though a hand like A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] is still possible.

If CO doesn't have a diamond, it's possible your turn checkraise of three players will convince him you must have a flush. Maybe he'll fold for that reason. A lot of things have to go right, though, really.

In any event, it's a difficult hand, and I think your problems started when you called the preflop raise with J9o from the SB. I would have folded preflop.
