Video card question

I got a cheap one because its supposed to just run as your secondary video card or whatever but to use the dvi connection I had to switch it to my primary card my other monitor is a crt but im about to get another dell and was wondering if I should upgrade video cards. I know ill have to hook one of them up through vga but just as far as perfomance and stuff on the card.
