Overcards, somewhat scary turn.
Opp is a fish, 63/0/1. I assumed he was betting top pair on the flop, I raised to eliminate competition and possibly buy myself a free card if I needed it. When the turn paired and he led into me again, I can only assume he has the J and I'm drawing dead. Good laydown here?

Re: Overcards, somewhat scary turn.
A classic position that lots of players struggle with (myself included). The problem with the flop raise is our hand is fairly weak if we're drawing. We have 2 overcards and a weak BDSD. If we had the K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] maybe, but I think we can just call this flop and see the turn.
EDIT: Also, your motiviation is off. A8/K8, A5/K5, and AJ/KJ aren't folding here in this big pot. What other hands are you trying to drive out? You also need to be sure that you're playing against passive players to go for a free card. |

Re: Overcards, somewhat scary turn.
Yeah, I just call the flop and then fold the turn.
