Re: How should i have played this set
Step 1) Definnitely play it a little faster, make it like $1.5 on the flop. Build a pot and kill the odds for someone to draw against you with JQ or something.
Step 2) Don't get rivered by gutshots. |

Re: How should i have played this set
When did a T9x board become "relatively drawless?"
One of the things that Fim has mentioned on occasion is "presenting EV neutrality to your opponents." It may be a little premature to start worrying about this, but part of what presenting EV neutrality means is that you have to play your big draws and your sets very similarly. If you had QJ here you might want to raise this flop strongly for FE (or you might not, depending on your opponents). If you're going to raise QJ here, you should raise a set here as well. Your opponents don't know if you have ~33% equity with two cards to come or ~90% equity with two cards to come. They will therefore make mistakes, which as Sklansky pointed out in TOP is the goal of the game. Some food for thought. Basically, I think you should've played this a lot more strongly with a big raise on the flop. Pot the turn, which you may have already done. |

Re: How should i have played this set
When you make a decent sized bet on the flop you get rid of most hands likely to make a straight, and keep around most hands that will pay you off with 2nd best hands.
