Default Interesting situation i ran into preflop

5-5 500 cap really loose passive game with one good player(villain)
villain has like 630 or so, i have him covered
utg makes it 25 blind, 3 callers to villain in co who makes it 130 total.
I have AJs on the button and make it 200 more
He pushes all in.
I know my reraise in this hand is not very good because of his stack, he pushes i have to call.
But me and azk were discussing if it would be a good move
if he has like 1k behind, in such a case i think i like the reraise.
I thought he was trying to pick up the limpers money, hence i reraised..comments?

If he say he is a good player, dont you think his push is at worst AK. Probably more along the lines of 1010, QQ, KK.

If he has a deeper stack, I like the raise a lot. As is, good luck with the hand since you really do have to call now as you are calling 300 to get a shot at over 1K.

So what you are saying is if he had more behind , like 1000 he may laydown fearing you for a re-raise with AA

I have made a similar play with AQ but did a limp-reraise which worked for me. I limp and big blind makes it 15, which puts him on 66-1010, just cause I know him. Everyone calls this and I make it 150 total with AQ. He calls everyone folds and he calls me to the river where I hit a Q and bet one last time and he folds. So I agree with you on making these plays because it really does look like AA, KK and helps you play a decent hand against a decent player and win

well not only will a fear a reraise with a deeper stack, but if he pushes, i can act like i hate it..show a jack and muck.

Nice. You could also make it obvious that you're choosing one at random, as if you pick up the A, he'll just think AK. That makes your show seem much less forced.
