Default Cheap showdown with 77 from Button?

Just played this hand. Villian is LAGGY preflop stats are 58%VPIP/18%PFR/~40 hands. I haven't really been watching him real close, and this is the first possible blind steal so I don't know if his reraise is blind defense, a legit hand or just LAGGY play.

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 max, 9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is Button with 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
<font color="#666666">6 folds</font>, <font color="#CC3333">Hero raises</font>, <font color="#666666">1 fold</font>, <font color="#CC3333">BB 3-bets</font>, Hero calls.

Flop: (6.50 SB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">BB bets</font>, Hero calls.

I figured this is a real good flop for me - all low cards and if he does have a possible hand, like 2 overs, I'm feeling pretty good about my hand. However, I just want to see a cheap showdown - sound good or make him pay to see more cards? This felt kinda like a WA/WB situation and I just wanted to get out cheaply

Turn: (4.25 BB) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">BB bets</font>, Hero calls.

River: (6.25 BB) 2[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] <font color="#0000FF">(2 players)</font>
<font color="#CC3333">BB bets</font>, Hero calls.

Final Pot: 8.25 BB

Was this too passive? I kinda felt like I should have raised somewhere, at least the river where I'm only behind a bigger PP or a 10. If his 3-bet was some LAGGY move, it could really have been any 2 cards, however, I'm probably ahead of more legit 3 bet hands then I'm behind (larger pocket pairs).

Trying to get a feel for mid pocket pairs in smaller pots. Thanks

Eh you missed a cap on the flop and a raise on the turn but played it fine otherwise.

Why do you want a cheap showdown with the probable best hand here? Given your read, raise the flop and punish him. Slow down if he 3-bets. The problem with your line is that many turn and river cards are going to make you hate your hand. I would raise flop, bet turn and probably check river.

I'm raising/capping the flop with his stats he could have anything and you have the best hand a vast majority of the flop. Get the best in before overcards make you start to doubt your hand.

you ned to raise somewhere, i doubt this is WA/WB, any 2 overcards have some clean outs against you.

Thanks, that's what I figured. I was hesitant to raise becuase I figured he'd probably 3-bet - either as blind defense or as an aggressive player. I felt that if 3-bet, I still wouldn't have a better idea of where I was at in the hand.
