Default my LAG hand from yesterday

Hero is MP with 2200 and 7 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 7 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], villain covers.

Two limpers, Villain makes it 100, hero calls, everyone else folds.

Flop (250): 8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 6 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

Villain bets 150, hero calls.

Turn (550): A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Villain checks, hero checks.

River (550): A [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

Villain bets 400, hero moves all in for 1550 more.

Standard?

I like betting the turn much better. The A is the perfect bluff card and kills many of villians holdings. At a minimum, you'll find out where you are at. What hand are you trying to represent when you make that bet on the river? A made full house i assume....Will villian give you that much credit?

A scared me a little didn't think he'd let it go when he hit it, but when A pairs in trips it is very unlikely he has quads and my line looks exactly like slowplayed set trying to get a call from trips.

also i think bluffing the A is not smart. i'm not calling on that flop with just AK and then betting it on still drawless turn board when i hit... i was calling with 77 because i thought it was best, not looking to eventually bluff KK out of a pot... i thought he hit the A and i didn't want to try to get him off it right there, i was going to give up on the hand until the river hit.

I understand you're line looks like a slowplayed set....But do you really think villian is laying down 3 A's?....I don't play that game so i'm not sure but my instinct tells me the only hands this bet is effective against are pairs bigger than yours (like KK)....

If you bet the turn you can't steal on the river?

her goal isn't to induce a big lay of Ax here, because river bet doesn't look like the kind of bet someone would make here with Ax, so basically she's trying to induce a laydown of likely overpairs between 99~KK.

hm... to be honest, i thought the line looked a lot like slowplayed set, i would often check a set behind in that spot on turn if i sensed weakness from villain.

the fold from pairs between 8 and A was a given, i was actually trying to induce a fold from an A, is that too optimistic? the opponent had a large stack, so if i had any read, it's that he might be decent, just from that one factor (which is obviously a very questionable "read")

fwiw, this is exactly how i might play a set if i chose not to bet turn, which i wouldnt if i sensed weakness, and the river A makes the overbet all in perfect to get calls from trips from bad players, so if this player can think, you don't think he lays down an A?

against typical party donks..looks highy unlikely.

against regulars with more dicipline.. maybe.

would you fold AK/AQ in that spot your self?
