Implied odds with draws
Can you make a call on the turn knowing well your opponent has a huge hand and will cough up his all/ost chips in the end. Even though he makes such a large bet that it is not odds to call normally, like pot sized? And both stacks are huge compared to the pot?
I ran into this situation the other night. 1. I was pretty sure the opponent misread my hand 2. Almost sure he had 2 pair the way he played it 3. He was, how do you all call it? a donk? 4. I had a flush draw and hit on the river taking his whole stack justifiying the call on the turn. |

Re: Implied odds with draws
I read an article where Stu Ungar pulled this same hat trick vs Doyle in the WSOP. They had equal stacks. Stu was certain DB flopped aces up or a set and stu only had an inside straight. DB bet enough at the pot to make it normally not worth while for Stu to call with a 1:10 shot. But because the pot was 5% of both their stacks he was fairly certain that if he hit his straight DB would call an all in. So he called. The turn came the gut and Stu got all of DB's chips.
Very interesting article. |

Re: Implied odds with draws
brunson flopped 2 pair, ungar had wheel draw I believe.
brunson bet half pot, ungar calls and hits on the turn. the pot was more than 5% of their stacks though. all the money goes in on the turn. |

Re: Implied odds with draws
yup thats it. Stu figured DB had a big hand and couldnt lay it down so he made the call without pot odds but huge implied odds on his read.
