In the land of the blinds, the one-kinged man is I
In live play, I have always chopped, so blind battles are still fairly foreign to me. Like this one? Villain is 52/6/1.6 on 200 hands.
Party Poker 10/20 Hold'em (6 max, 3 handed) Preflop: Hero is BB with 8[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]. 1 fold, SB completes, Hero raises, SB calls. Flop: (4 SB) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) SB bets, Hero calls. Turn: (3 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) SB bets, Hero calls. River: (5 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) SB checks, Hero checks. Final Pot: 5 BB |

Re: In the land of the blinds, the one-kinged man is I
Raise this flop, the rest of the hand is fine.
Mid pair in a blind battle is a pretty strong hand. And I generally don't credit them the ace when they don't raise preflop. He could easily be betting both a spade here, or a 3 or a worse 8. |

Re: In the land of the blinds, the one-kinged man is I
I'd probably raise the flop too, without the raise I'm going to at least give them less credit for an Ace.
Especially at 10-20. |

I think you need to raise either the flop or the turn.

Re: In the land of the blinds, the one-kinged man is I
The guy's pfr is 6 which is absurdly low. I wouldn't be surprised if he limps with weak aces at least sometimes. I agree that mid pair/ good kicker in a blind battle is usually a strong hand, but not having a spade on this board signficantly weakens my hand compared to the norm.

Re: In the land of the blinds, the one-kinged man is I
I would call the flop and raise a non-spade turn. He's not three betting without at least an A because of the scare board. That way you charge a spade draw, and can check behind the river if you feel a value bet is too thin (but I'm pretty sure a value bet is required by law if the river is a nonspade).

If he calls your turn raise and then a spade hits on the river and he bets out, are you folding?

Re: In the land of the blinds, the one-kinged man is I
I don't know why you raised preflop. A guy that raises that little is likely limping weak aces & kings & low pocket pairs from the SB, mostly hands that have you beaten. I'd rather see the flop before I put more money in the pot. I raise the flop or the turn as well & bet until given a reason not to.. including a spade river.
