I call down after the turn 3 bet I think, and expect to be shown a better A.

I would call down from the turn bet on. I don't see how he 3-bet you w/o an ace and while you probably both have trip aces your kicker sucks and is going to play.
You didn't pick up a flush draw on the turn which may have been your only hope to take the whole pot down. I'm thinking villain is of the weak-tight type who check-called when the 3rd heart hit on the end and saved you a bet or two. |

I don't know if this is best or not, but I'd have simply called the turn and then the following river bet which surely would have come.
Your raising opponent has an Ace with a better kicker than yours. |
