I've only read the first hand example, and skimmed a couple of others (bought if for my girlfriend). It will make you break even at best in the 0.5/1.00 limit online or will make you breakeven in a B&M 3/6 game (not sure about this though, depending on the rake of the B&M game).
The beauty of the book, from what little I have read, is the foundation that it provides for your future advancement as a player. It is the very best stepping stone available IMO. The writing alone makes this so, but I also know the strategy is very good from the one hand I did read. But, there is NO WAY you will be able to beat a game lik 5/10 6max online after reading only GSIH. Not even close. |

The answer to this question depends on who reads the book. Some people play very well at high limits without reading anything.

I think someone who studies and understands that book would lose at party 2/4 and above. I also think they would lose at most 8/16 and above live games.
Its a great book to start with. It wasn't intended as a replacement for SSHE or HEPFAP. |

[ QUOTE ]
If you have read this book, how far can you go? Break even? Beat 2-4? Beat 10-20? Beat 1000-2000? [/ QUOTE ] Beat 0.5/1 online or 3/6 live probably. The beauty is that it lays a solid foundation [b]without teaching incorrect thinking[b]. Most other beginner books teach lots of stuff that you pretty much immediately have to unlearn. |
