General pocket pair question.
Let's say the villian is a random PP NL50 player.
Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $ BB (10 handed) converter BB ($69.60) UTG ($66.58) UTG+1 ($15.80) UTG+2 ($50.50) MP1 ($5.25) Hero ($71.04) MP3 ($37.70) CO ($33.10) Button ($24.60) SB ($47.65) Preflop: Hero is MP2 with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. SB posts a blind of $0.25. 4 folds, Hero raises to $2, 4 folds, BB calls $1.50. Flop: ($4.25) J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], K[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero bets $3.5, BB calls $3.50. Turn: ($11.25) 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) BB checks, Hero checks. River: ($11.25) 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) A) How much should I call here in general? B) Should I bet if checked to? C) If the river is the 2 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]? |

Re: General pocket pair question.
I probably fire again on the turn here, but barring that I answer your actual questions...
A)$10 or less B)no I think A is the far more valuable question here, and without reads I really do not have a good argument for my answer, so I hope someone else does. |

Re: General pocket pair question.
A) Almost nothing, the only time I'd consider a call is if the bet is more than 2/3 of the pot (you can figure that one out)
B) Yes, 1/3 pot C) Same. |

[ QUOTE ]
A) Almost nothing, the only time I'd consider a call is if the bet is more than 2/3 of the pot (you can figure that one out) B) Yes, 1/3 pot C) Same. [/ QUOTE ] So you would fold to a $4 bet but call a pot-size bet? Even though you have to be good 20% in the first instance and 33% in the second? I don't think I'd put this much faith in a "strength is weakness" read here (if that's what you're implying) Having checked the turn I think you ought to call $10 on the river. I wouldn't bet if checked to. In general, I think I'd prefer to bet the turn here, and check through the river or fold to a bet. You'd get better value out of a draw this way, and avoid having to call a river bet with no idea where you are. (With KQ, I think I'd check the turn and call the river, but in that case you pick up extra value from persuading a weak K to bet into you on the river) |

Re: General pocket pair question.
Although you have to win more of the time when facing a larger bet, you will be up against a bluff much more often than when facing a smaller bet.

Re: General pocket pair question.
it should be a routine fold if he bets 4$ or more..I might even fold to a 3$
I don't see many hands you beat coming out firing |
