Re: AA - 3-bet or call the turn? raise or call the river?
read on the guy : pretty new, less than 30 hands so far, but rather unimpressive. played more than half the hands, raised only one, and didn't show it down. forgot to raise AQ and KQ to open. turn bluff with AQ (no pair no draw) which turned out to be best hand.

I don't like it. Who raises you in this situation on the turn with less than two pair?

Depends on the player as always...I would probably call down. I just really don't like 3-betting in these situations. This opponent didn't like his hand until the turn, and I don't think he was raising with a pair of 7's.

I think the BB capping it on the turn is vomit in the mouth time.
I like the 3-bet, because he could be semibluffing a heart draw with an 8 or 9, but when he caps it, you have to want to puke. I'd punch the computer screen as I called the river. |

Re: AA - 3-bet or call the turn? raise or call the river?
I folded AA to a single raise on the turn the other day... it felt pretty good...
Anyway... I don't personally like a turn raise here. The problem is that you have way too many outs to counterfeit two pair to fold here. Villain plays way too many hands so could have two-pair, straight, flush, etc... I don't think hand protection is an issue here once MP1 folds the turn, so that's not a major concern. Once you get capped there's no way you're winning this hand. Folding to a turn cap in a 13 BB pot seems to suck, though, and I don't want to put myself in that position. I might just call down on the turn. Against an aggro. opponent, I may well call the turn and then donk-bet the river, with the intent of probably calling a river raise if villain is tricky or aggro. Against standard opponents I think that calling the turn and check-calling the river is totally fine here. If the turn is a bluff like we know villain will make some of the time, I see no reason to three-bet here, as they are probably drawing thin or dead. If villain will bluff the river again a river check is excellent. |
