I don't understand why you folded. Even if it was a 1/3 blind structure

Something's not right here Bob... you're in the SB, but 4th to act 4 handed... it also looks like you folded 33 for half a SB after a limper...

[/ QUOTE ]

the blind structure is 2/5

I don't think I like it. Getting 4-1 callinfg $3 preflop you don't have to make much on your sets to profit here: 1.5BB would do it, and that's easy to make. You don't necessarily need to hit a set to win, either, so why not take the flop?

If the UTG limp is particularly suspicious or the BB is prone to raising, perhaps you have a case.

Guy.

My normal line is to do the same. Hitting a set is about the only thing to hope for since any other flop without a 3 will look nasty considering the cards that players on party 5/10 play.

Even with a flop of something like J 8 2r, I would hate to play this hand OOP. If your flop bet doesn't take the pot down(if you decide to bet the flop), the hand is a money hole to try and win a small pot.

Consider the bet size in this situation ($3). Consider the bet size on the flop, turn and river. Consider implied odds. Tell us why you think this is a good or bad fold. Use percentages.

I am getting 4:1, assuming BB checks. I hate my position. Once the flop hits, i am OOP and very likely behind.

Not only are you getting 4:1, but your implied odds are about 1.7 times greater than calling outside the SB. This is way too good to lay down, IMO. You could play for a set alone and turn a profit here, I suspect.

This is key here. Even if you think you need 10:1 implied to play this hand, you only need to make up 6 "bets" post-flop when you hit. And the "bets" at issue are $3 so you need to make up $18 or less than 2 BBs postflop when you hit (not to mention the times, perhaps somehwat rarer than we'd like) that you win the pot without hitting.
