Default What the heck is EV- EV+?

Sorry to be ignorant to this. I'm fairly new to this MB but I never know what people mean by +EV and -EV? Does it mean favorite or underdog? Is that what it means?

Expected Value.

Basically if you played the hand a particular way a bazillion times, what your average profit/loss would be.

Also used are CEV (tournament chip EV) and $EV (which is the expected dollar value associated with a particular play in a tournament). There is a lot of debate as to the relationship between $EV and CEV.

Read "Theory of Poker"

I have read a lot of poker books in the last few months and TOP has become my "primary refernece book" I am currently on my 3rd reading. Unforutatley, I just got the paperback and I've already worn it out, so I suggest the hardbound.

Not that I'm shilling for 2+2 or anything..
