Simple math hand
I got involved in an argument at a table about this hand. It was very stupid because I dont want to teach my opponents how to play and calculate odds.
No limit holdem. There is $12 in the pot on flop. Flop is A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 3 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Player A bets $10 with 5 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Player B has 33 and raises to $25, Player A makes it $125 (he has now put $125 into the pot), Player B raises all in to $430. Player A started the hand with more $ than Player B. Let's say that Player A now knows what Player B has (forget about how Player A played the hand so far). Is it a mistake of player A to call with 54s now? I discussed this with a player on the table. One of us said it's a horrible call. The other said that the call was only a small mistake. I think there are a lot of players at 2/4 - 5/10 that dont know much about odds. And I thought this is very simple but he was sure that he was right. (I was called idiot and fool) (if this should have been posted in another forum feel free to move it) |

Re: Simple math hand
I believe a gut-shot striaght flush draw against a set is a 2:1 dog (I just lost in this situation with the draw the other day and checked).
so in the pot is 125 + 125 + 305 + 12 = 567 and you have to A has to call 305, so it's a slight mistake. |

Re: Simple math hand
Board: As Jd 3s
Dead: equity (%) win (%) tie (%) Hand 1: 34.7475 % 34.75% 00.00% { 5s4s } Hand 2: 65.2525 % 65.25% 00.00% { 3d3h } courtesy of pokerstove, a call is marginally incorrect. I think it is like -$2 EV |
