I do it UTG+1 (CO?), but lay it down UTG. Is this bad?

do you open with it one off the button when it's a 10 player table? what about two off? use your standards there and you're good to go
that sort of thought process should be a starting point, although it doesn't fully translate. btw, no I usually don't open it until the button. I will open A8o and A3s one off the button, and any ace on the button |

Ick.. I usually fold this on the button even. My PFR is 25% already, and I've been trying to drop hands The only time a weaker ace seems to be good to me is when you can isolate a loose weaker player who goes to showdown to much or have a decent chance at nabbing the blinds (in which case I usually table change).

If the table tends to have multiway pots to the river, it's an easy dump, or if you have aggro opponents acting after you. [/ QUOTE ] A7o is very +EV against two random hands. I'd saying folding this one on the button is a leak 5 handed. Even 6handed. |

[/ QUOTE ] My raising hands are really position/opponent dependant. Against the right players I'll open a huge amount of hands from late position. I've just found that given a normal 5/10 table, a weak offsuit ace has little chance of holding up from early position. Raising hands like 910s from the CO against loose players who go to showdown too much with some kind of hand, however weak, is where I pick up most of my PFR hands. I guess my standard UTG openers are 88+,A9s+,KTs+,QJs,ATo+,KJo+, and 22+,A8s+,K9s+,Q9s+,J8s+,T9s,98s,32s,A8o+,K9o+,Q9o+ ,J9o+,T9o from late position. That adds up to about 20% PFR on a standard table. I add a lot of hands against really loose opponents in LP/blinds, together with looser standards when 5/less handed. |

the reason i posted this was in a tourney with 5 people left. i opened with a7o utg+1/ blinds were 150/300 and i raised T900. this one kid reraises all in 125 on top so obviously im forced to call. he had QQ and i ended up rivering an A, which really set him off. he started saying how i had no business in the hand and how a7o is not playable even 5 handed. i was just wondering if my play really was bad.
also, how wud you find the ev of a7o vs 4 or 5 random hands? |
