Default Tipping Philosophy

My standard tipping practice is to tip a percentage of my win at the end of the night rather than tipping each individual pot I win. I do this only at casinos where all dealers chop tips (at dealer keeps casinos, i tip after each rotation). I think that, absent any unusual difference in the quality of the dealers, the tip should be proportional to the win. I also had a tendency, when I tipped every pot, to forget, and this method avoids that problem. I do supplement my standard 2% by tipping more when the dealers are good, and tipping sometimes even if I lose, but I always do it at the end of the night. I'm not stingy about tips, especially when I have a big win ... I've tipped $30-$40 on a 1K win in a 2-5 no limit game, when the dealers were good all night. But, on a bad night I suppose i look like an a-hole. I'm a winning player and over the long run I am sure it evens out or the dealers may even do better with this method. Any B&M regulars have thoughts on or problems with this? Just curious.

At least you tip.

But apparently you don't read this forum at all. Because this subject has been discussed to DEATH.

But now that you've gone ahead and made this post, we can all say... "As usual, yet another tipping thread on top." And as usual, you'll get a half dozen trolls with 200 posts, 199 of which are on this very subject, who'll go off for days and days on the subject of why they DON'T tip, and why you shouldn't either.

This is why this subject should just NOT be discussed AT ALL, EVER, at least not until they really do start censoring these forums in a much more meaningful way. It's a shame, but with the massive growth of 2+2, there's a NEED to weed out the trolls. Heck, it's not censorship, it's QUALITY CONTROL.

I'm half tempted to say something really wrong, just to get the mod's attention, and hopefully get this particular "yet another tipping thread" locked before the trolls get here. But that's not the answer. I'll just not read any of the responses, that way I won't throw up, and maybe the topic will die. Seriously, we really need to be discussing other things for a change.

As for yourself, tip however you want, I have no opinion on the matter.

Fair enough. No, I haven't read this forum before. I usually stay in the strategy forums. My apologies - I know how beaten-to-death topics suck. I didn't realize this would be one.

On another note, i'm heading to Vegas for a few days and see people post trip reports - if anything interesting happens, i'll post it.
