FAQ sticky for this forum
Is there a way we could get some kind of FAQ sticky for first time visitors? These FAQs have started to pop up on other forums. I constantly see the same questions regarding books, starting hands, tournaments, where to play ....
I have never noticed any green names here so I'm throwing this out to everyone for discussion. |

Re: FAQ sticky for this forum
This is obviously a good idea. However, the people who have offered to come up with such a FAQ in the past have been the least qualified to do so.

Re: FAQ sticky for this forum
I don't know what kind of qualifications you expect from someone typing up what kinds of Omaha books are out there and some basic preflop advice, virtually all of which has already been covered in this folder (and these are the two most asked questions).
I second an FAQ sticky. -Matt |

[/ QUOTE ] The qualifications I expect is someone who has a sound grounding in poker theory to determine what makes a book worth reading as well as a basic understanding of pre and postflop play. Anyone who advocates folding 4578 preflop to a 3x raise certainly is not qualified. People who do not call preflop hoping to hit middle set are also not qualified. People who's entire strategy is based on flopping the nuts and having it stand up are supremely unqualified. People who have not played at various limits are also not qualified. Ideal choices are Big Dave, Dogsballs, and LA Price. |

Re: FAQ sticky for this forum
We are talking about a total of 3 total books out there on Omaha, and preflop strategy, the gist of which is that preflop strategy is unimportant.
My sticky would be read all 3 books, (TJ's, Rueben's, and Ciaffone's), and as far as preflop goes, just dont put yourself in situations where you will not have or not be drawing to the nuts, and reraise with Aces. Is that way off base? I'd say anything else specific should simply be thrown into the hand converter and posted for analysis. -Matt |

Re: FAQ sticky for this forum
Does it really matter who makes it? I think as long as it gets posted here before it is made into a sticky would be good enough so that we can catch the big problems with it.

Re: FAQ sticky for this forum
I would not say reraise with aces without putting a few sentences in about stack commitment.

If nobody takes the initiative I will write a draft after exams are over (next week).
