Default This is obvious I am sure

I think there's a chance I get this wrong on a regular basis.

One limper, I raise on the button with two nines, blinds and limper call.

Flop is K T 4 with a flush draw. SB checks, BB bets, limper calls.

Assuming the BB is someone half decent who could be leading with a draw as well as a pair but won't be on a total airball here, what's your plan?

Guy.

Fold.

After a bet and a call you are most likely drawing to 2 outs and if you are ahead you can be easily drawn out on. You don't have enough equity to continue.

Also note it is possible that you are behind one guy and the other has QJ, nullifying your 2 outs (or if you dont have 9 of flush then you only have 1 out).

I fold this on a consistent basis when you have a better AND a caller already. That's a tough parlay to beat that both the better and caller don't have a K or T. In this small pot it aint worth it.

One thing that I got from reading some of "Zen and the art of Poker" and skimming the rest is to feel neutral about folds. Don't feel great about making a lay down or get frustrated. Feel indifferent about folding a hand. Just fold it and keep playing your A game.

I like to be more human than the computer on which I'm playing. But thanks for the synopsis.

This is really important IMHO. It's kind of naturally come to me over time, but I wish I'd have read that book when I started playing. Making a big laydown to feel good is just as bad a form of tilt as being angry at folding KK on an A high board and going to far with your next hand. Good post.

Okay so we're all clear this is a fold. Good. I fold it too.

Now then, the meaty bit... what if there is no caller in between?

Guy.
