I just called to check on the availabilty of rooms at the poker rate, and Borgata is "fully committed" the first three weekends of August (5th-6th, 12th-13th, 19th-20th). Lame. The Comfort Inn North, my usual go-to when Borg is sold out, has definitely upped its rates these days too. UGH.

August is a bitch in AC...taking Amtrak and doing an All Nighter is always an alternative [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img].

go to Harrah's or Showboat, sign up for total rewards, play breakeven video poker or blackjack for an hour or two. go home, log on to web site, get free and/or heavily discounted room rates year round with no advance play requirement, and free parking too. check in, play breakeven video poker or blackjack for an hour or two, then drive/cab it to Borg or wherever the good poker is. or maybe the harrah's or showboat poker rooms have something right there, might as well check first.

It takes a little less time and is TONS more comfortable and convenient and safe. Take Amtrak to 30th Street Station in Phila. Hop on a NJ Transit Train to AC...time t right and u might just have 15 mins overlap. Takes like 3.75 hrs total, trains leave for Phila from AC about every hr and from Phila to DC via Amtrak even more frequently than that. IT's GREAT when you don't want to drive. So much more comfortable.
