Default The Cubs should trade Kerry Wood

Could they get anything for him?

You can't rely on him to be in the lineup. It's too much distraction and you need to be able to count on your pitchers to be there. With him, who knows if he'll be around in August or October or even next week.

I think they should move him into the bullpen. Or I think they really need to work on his mechanics. There has to be a problem with the way he is throwing to cause so much problems with his arm.

He could be like Smoltz go to the pen and work on his mechanics then come back to the rotation when he is at 100%.

But overall you have to be dissapointed with his career.

well then you answered your own question

here is his contact situation:
3-Year worth 32.5M- will make 7M in 2004, 8.5M in 2005 and 11M in 2006- + receives a 3M signing bonus, which is paid in 1M installments each of the first 3 years- + deal includes 2007 Mutual Option worth 13.5M or a 3M buyout, which could value the entire deal up to 43M- + has a complete NO-TRADE clause thru the 2006 season

Building your team around young pitching is just too risky. Those guys just get hurt too often.

Buy low, sell high

It would be dumb to trade him because he has pretty much hit rock bottom right now...

Pitching costs to much to do anything else. League average starters get 7 mil/yr or more.

I would trade Dusty Baker for a garbage bag of old lineup cards from the 70's. I'd also include Hollandsworthless in there.
