Make a loose call, or not?
2 orbits with villain, haven't seen him raise PF. Moderately aggressive postflop. Haven't seen a showdown with him yet, and for what it's worth he's 25%vp$ip at this point. Villain has about $23, I have him covered.
Converter was weird, so sorry about the format. Party Poker .25 NL (9 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is UTG+2 with J[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. UTG+1 limps, I limp, button limps, SB folds BB checks. Flop: T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players) BB checks, UTG+1 checks, Hero checks, Button bets .25 BB folds, UTG+1 folds. Hero raises to 1.5. Button calls. .25 bet into $1.10 pot from the button smelled like a weak steal attempt so I raised to put some pressure on. He called fairly quickly Turn: 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players) Pot is about $4. Flush draw didn't hit, but I picked up 6 clean outs and 2 dirty ones, not to mention A and J outs. I bet $3.5 so he doesn't have odds to call for a flush. Villain calls River: T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) Hero doesnt like this card and checks, hoping a missing flush draw checks behind and my A-high wins. Villain unfortunately goes all-in for about $18 in a $11 pot. Reeks of a missed draw, especially since trip 10's would probably want to make a value bet here. Anyone call? Anyone bet the river, and if so how much? Should I just check the turn with all those outs and play it from there? |

Re: Make a loose call, or not?
The way this played out, I'm not calling on the river without a read unless this guy's a real LAG, which doesn't seem to be the case in the limited number of hands you've seen. I can find better spots to get my money in.
Were it me, I would've probably led out about a $4 blocking bet on the river and folded if he came over the top. |

Re: Make a loose call, or not?
Fold. Instantly.
You make an OK move on the flop c/r. You are representing a big hand and villian still calls you. So he has, IMO, a pair himself here more times than not. About the not giving him odds to call for a flush: it is ~4:1 to make a flush. (4.75:1 because you have a heart) If you bet 1/3 pot you are not giving villians odds to call in heads up situations purely for the flush. (you can add a little bit to factor in overs if you want) I don't know why you fixed on villian having a flush draw. This is just one of those small pots that we play all day long, waiting for the big ones. No sense in making it into something that it's not. C/c, c/c, c/f is probably the best line here as it played out. Your line is OK with a smaller turn lead and a c/f on the end. |
