Late tournament moves, am I correct?

We are down to about 35 ppl in a 30 dollar buyin multi table that started with 600 I was playing pretty tight but then I started pushing with hands like 66 77 and went up to 20000 chips then I push 55 get called by AK and lose to 5000 chips I get back up to 11000 chips and get aj, should I have pushed here, second question when I had aj another the chip leader told the guy before him to call me because his cards were crap and he couldnt, is this wrong?
