I thought he was just asking our opinions. I think CardPlayer's winner was Todd Witteles, and Toyota's was Allen Cunningham, but I definitely could be wrong. I think CardPlayer's system kind of sucks. Not sure how to articulate why, it just seems to be counterintuitive. |

Re: WSOP player of the year?
Dan Druff (aka Todd Witteles) won the card player, player of the WSOP. Along with this comes no respect from card player and actually getting denied entrance into the WSOP at Binions to watch the festivities.
I'm not advocating he had the best perforance of the WSOP, and either is he, but he did win it. He was just playing by the rules (point system) that cardplayer deemed fair. He was denied priority (not waiting in line) admittance that the TV pros got. Then Jeff Shulman said (during the live broadcast) that the points didn't matter and money was the real issue, even though he made up the system. I'm not trying to start an arguement, but only stating facts. Maybe he will get a free subscription of the mag in the mail. Dan only entered 2 events (both limit, his specialty) prior to the main event and finished 3rd and 1st. He doesn't normally play in tournments and these were his first two. |

Re: WSOP player of the year?
Kind of an odd point system with Cardplayer....
Cunningham gets 960 points for winning an event with 2,305 players, $1,500 buy-in. Witteles gets 1,440 points for winning an event with 406 players, $3,000 buy-in. So does the bigger buy-in really make it that much more important? I'd think outlasting 5 times as many players would be a greater accomplishment. |
