I am thinking of taking up golf lessons.... I was thinking of taking a class at a community college but my friend said i could fork over 200 bills and pay for a pga professional to teach me 6 30 mins lessons...

Yea, golf sucks, don't do it. Find a game that isn't so frustrating. You might say, well I would be happy if I could just get under 100, and then you do and you aren't happy with that. Then you say you just want to get under a 90 and then you do, and you aren't happy with that. Then you say you just want to get under an 80 and you do, but then you can't get any better.

This is exactly right, but it doesn't mean that it isn't a very enjoyable game. All it takes is one good shot per round, or one good round per month, to keep one coming back. It's also a good way for gamblers to get out of the house or casino and enjoy the outdoors.

It's also a game that you can play all your life. I highly recommend taking the game up.

$200 for 6 lessons sounds dirt cheap. I took a lesson a couple years ago from a pro in Atlanta and it was $125 for 45 minutes. But he was considered one of the best in the counrty and was mentioned as one of GD top 100 pros.

The main thing is to figure out how the pro teaches to see if you like his style and method. They're are different ways to teach the golf swing. Try to get recommendations from people who have been taught by the pro you are considering.

Play both. Use poker to subsidize golf.

Both if you are a rank beginner. If you have to choose one, go with the PGA pro. That sounds very reasonable for a series of lessons. I also think it is good to have somebody you can go back to. Which you will need and want if you get into the game.

if you don't play at all, try the community college course. it'll let you know if you like the game, you won't waste valuable lesson time learning the minutae like ettiquite, and you may meet some cute girls.
