Default Should I give up poker, or just come play in your game? (LC)

[begin rant]
You know, I pride myself in being a solid poker player, but I found out I'm wrong.

small home tourney, pays top 3 spots (50, 100, 200+)

3 players left big stack to my right in the BB (15x my stack probably) I have 2K, blinds 400-800.

small blind has 525 left before posting. All I need to do is fold. I shouldn't even be looking at my cards.

I look down at A2o and push. SB folds. 1200 more to the bigstack BB, he contemplates, shows his 89o (we allow tea housing). I show my A. He thinks some more and calls. Hits an 8 on the flop and I'm out.

I've never EVER made such a horrible poker play as that. I mean that is flat out the stupidest thing I've ever ever done.

Thanks for listening, let me know if you want me to come play in your game sometime.

[end rant]

And to think, you could have bought an airsoft gun or something to torture yourself with if you won that extra $50.

Let's see:

There is 3200 in the pot. It costs him 1200 more to call. He's getting 2.7 to 1 odds and is a 1.5 to 1 dog against Ax and is still the huge chip leader even if he loses.

The fact that you don't understand the reasons why his call was correct is the most troubling part of the post.

Instead of ranting I like writing random letters. It is very satisfying. Look,

You should try it sometime. Its like punching a pillow.

Where did he say he didn't understand the big stack calling?

He's pissed at himself, not some imagined poor play on big stack's part.

You might be right although my first read it seems like he thought the call was wrong. Perhaps he thought showing his Ace was wrong. Dunno. I don't think it makes much of a difference as he should have pushed and the big stack should have called so things worked out the way they were supposed to.

No, the BB was definitely right to call. I was pissed at myself for pushing. I almost should have folded my hand without looking. Do you see why?

The small blind didn't even have enough to complete. He was going out this hand unless he a) folded, leaving himself T125, or b) doubled up. In that situation I feel like I should have let the small blind bust out and move into 2nd place money.

In retrospect, I don't know if showing my A helped or hurt. I think it hurt. Showing him just the A pretty much let him know my kicker was weak and I probably only had one overcard.

THAT'S why I'm so pissed. I wish I would have bought an airsoft gun.
