Poker Obsession
Hello 2+2 Forums! Perhaps I am presenting this question to the wrong audience, but at what point can one successfuly conclude that poker has become a dangerous obsession? Even if the subject person in question is a highly successful player (ex: 5-10 player makes $60,000/yr.), what are the most obvious symptoms that he/she should be compelled to seek serious help?

Re: Poker Obsession
Can you take a week's vacation with your mind at ease? (without poker of course!)

Re: Poker Obsession
I could take a week off from poker, but I'd still be thinking about it. Does this make me an addict?

Re: Poker Obsession
Is poker getting in the way of your responsibilities?
Is it causing problems in your relationships with others and those close to you? For example: do you have a daughter or wife, etc...that you don't spend the time you should with or neglect because you play poker? Do you use poker to escape the way you feel? These are a few questions I think you should explore. You might want to see a therapist to get advice and information from someone that is an expert in these kinds of things. |
