Default Live game question about chips and blinds

I will be playing $3-6 limit holdem this weekend and I have a question.
Lets say I sit down and buyin for $150 dollars and get a rack of 50 $3 dollar chips. I get deal in the small blind first hand and need to post $1.50. Do I put in a 3 dollar chip and get change immediatly or when it comes to me. Assuming I fold. Or do I get 1.50 chips when I buy in??

Thanks

Barring unusual circumstances, you won't be dealt in the small blind. And likely you will be playing a $1 SB, which makes chip exchange much easier.

You're more likely be playing with $1, $2 or $5 chips or all of the above. The Small blind will be $1. Play tight in that spot.
