Default Dealer Mistake Not Corrected

I was speaking with my buddy who recently had four of a kind (3's) against aces over kings full house. The dealer had pointed out the full house to be the winner and mucked the rest of the cards. Before the next hand came two other people said my buddy had won that hand. The casino went back and found the four of a kind in the cards but they said there was no way to prove he had those cards. The casino also refused to go back and review the tapes of the incident. Is this right or has this happend to anyone else?

The biggest lesson to be learned here (there seem to be a few) is that you should NEVER let go of your cards (assuming that you have the winning hand) until you are pushed the pot. Don't even give the dealer a chance to muck them. While you should be laid back at the table, this is one of the things that you not take for granted. They give you the pot...then you give them your cards. Never the other way around.

Thanks Brad. I will have to remember that one, I really don't know the details involved with this one, but I told my buddy I would do it as a favor and see what you guys had to say about it. And yours makes the most sense out of em all.

While Brad is absolutely right that you are responsible for your own cards and that you should not let them go, if your friend turned his cards over the casino can and should review the tapes. I don't know the details but it sounds like your friends cards either weren't turned up or if they were they weren't up for very long.

Cards speak so if they were tabled the pot should be awarded to the quads. I've been pushed a pot that wasn't mine before and pushed it right back. I just don't care to have any sort of question about my character come up. The dealer in this case simply misread the hands and mucked the wrong hand, she was new and was likely intimidated by the limit.
