AJo vs decent player
Opponent here I believe may be a TAG moving to 6 max. Hes tight but not agressive enough for 6 max.
Party Poker 3/6 Hold'em (6 max, 5 handed) converter Preflop: Hero is SB with J[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. 1 fold, MP calls, Button raises, Hero 3-bets, 1 fold, MP calls, Button caps, Hero calls, MP calls. Re: AJo vs decent player
Why not bet the flop? You are still ahead of a lot of hands that he raises preflop.

Re: AJo vs decent player
I would CR the flop to get MP out/charge him. I like the river if you are planning to fold to a raise.

[/ QUOTE ] i dont agree with this,if the MP has any club he is calling, this "charging " thing is Lee Jones type rubbish, if he has to pay 2 bets he still gets proper odds, also raising on this flop is dangerous, you can get reraised by either 2 so it is of no use |

Re: AJo vs decent player
Looks OK, if you think your AJ is ahead often enough against this player (check/folding is reasonable, IMO). He can peg you for a flush draw, he will never raise a hand you beat on the river, and he will fold some better ones.

Re: AJo vs decent player
Hi,
When you say he isn't aggressive enough do you mean pre or post flop or both? I can't see what hands you are ahead of but that river is a must bet. I would have probably check-raised the flop to drive out MP. Do you checkcall a non club river? |

Re: AJo vs decent player
Checkraise the flop to get MP out. This is a pretty big pot and you need to apply maximum pressure against Broadway gutshots and small flush draws. Make him guess whether his little club is drawing live.
The river bet is bad given your read of tight but not aggressive enough. What worse hands will call? Not very many. Now consider all the better hands that may very well give you a free showdown because of the 4-flush. |

[/ QUOTE ] Just saw Marand's "Terrible River Check?" thread and it illustrates my point beautifully. Even good players forget to bet the river. If you are in the position of Marand's Villain you do not want to be betting the river with a mediocre made hand. |

Re: AJo vs decent player
Check-raise the flop.
It pushes MP out, and can make future streets easier to play. Plus, there's a good chance you have the best hand. Adam |
