I expect him to raise the flop with A-high and bet the turn almost always. I would have only called a raise on the river.

I like it. Advantage to checkraising the turn here, instead of donkbetting/going for a 3-bet, is that Villain here is much more likely to 3-bet the turn with something like AK than he is to cap with it.
