A couple of 4/8 hands in Vegas
4/8 (half kill) Gold Coast Casino. Not a kill pot. The players are very loose and mildly aggressive. There's one or two solid players. The rest are fishies. I have AhQs UTG.
I've just re-read the section in hpfap about playing AQo weakly (giving up a little pre-flop to gain after the flop) when against poor players. This allows you to save when you don't flop good and exploit your opponents poor play when you do flop good. Back to the hand: I bring 8 chips out intending to raise. But as I recall what I've read, I just call. UTG+1 immediately raises. There's a re-raise somewhere. 8 to the flop for 3 bets each. Flop is 4h8s9s. I check and by the time it's back to me there's 4 in for two bets and 3 to act behind me. Is it time to fold my overcards with the backdoor second nut flush draw? Here's another I played at the Palms. It's 4/8 (with 1/2 blinds and a half kill) with a bunch of week players. One seemingly solid who likes to re-raise, but always either mucks early or shows down a reasonable hand. And a few who know they're good players, but in reality, SUCK. This is a kill pot. I have QsQc in the cutoff and raise. Button calls. The solid player is in the big blind and re-raises. 6 to the flop for 3 bets each. Flop is AcTc5c. Big blind checks, next player bets, two callers to me and I raise. Big blind checks his hole cards and says to the dealer, these won't help me, and folds. Others call. 4 to the turn. It's an offsuit 6. Checked to me and I check. River is an offsuit 2 and the early position flop bettor bets, 2 callers to me, I fold. Did I play that right? |
