From HOH2, a quote
"I'm at an 8-handed table, in 3rd pos with AJs. My M is down to 5. The players behind me have been tight. There's one stack even smaller than mine. He's getting desperate. Am I strong enough to poosh all-in here?"
M is stack / pot so w/o antes it'd be like having 7.5 BB. I would push here, but H-man says most good players would answer no. Thoughts? |

Re: From HOH2, a quote
Ok, I read HOHE I, and I thought I had finally conquered the abbreviations, but what is "M?"

Re: From HOH2, a quote
M = [stack size] / (BB + SB + antes)
it's a framework similar to that of the 10xBB rule. |

Re: From HOH2, a quote
7.5BB?
50-100 (750)depends, but I fold this a lot 75-150 (1125) depends, but most likely a push 100-200 (1450) grossly depends on where stack sizes are, but this is a generic push from now on. with a sng and high blinds 8 handed is very rare. a different kind of strategy comes into play I think. Where the shorties are is important. Those are sngs though... for a multi its different. you cant get good money slothing around... push. |

Re: From HOH2, a quote
I push, but then again I'm just now reading HOH1 and I'm disagreeing with a lot of stuff that he says. In the first one in his SNG section when he said "by the time the field is reduced to three or four players the blinds will be so large that the game becomes a crap shoot" he really got under my skin.

Re: From HOH2, a quote
Crapshoot refers to variance, not EV.

Re: From HOH2, a quote
Lord how I wish I was actually told the exact situation instead of being told what my "M" was, so I could actually give an answer! |
