Default Is it stupid to do things like that ?

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em, 4$ BB (6 max, 5 handed) converter

UTG ($333.9)
MP ($199.9)
Button ($71.7)
Hero ($447.2)
BB ($538.05)

Preflop: Hero is SB with 5[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. Hero posts a blind of $2.
3 folds, Hero (poster) raises to $10, BB calls $8.

Flop: ($24) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 9[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $25, Hero raises to $75, BB calls $50.

Turn: ($174) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, BB bets $70, Hero calls $70.

River: ($314) T[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $150.

My opponent is a somewhat aggressive player who is very loose before the flop. He often goes to far with his hands.

i am really really confused by your line

hopefully he was also

i really prefer leading for the possibility of winning a monster pot. but even check calling seems better than this rampaging show of strength.

With regards to your choosen line, overall neither great nor horrible, I have only one question...

When your opponent decided to bet into you on the turn after calling a significant flop check-raise...DID YOUR RAISE BUTTON BREAK?

The only reason to smooth call here, IMO, is if you are 99% sure he will bet the river, which you did for him, making it easier for him to fold. If you plan on betting the river, I think a second CR is in order.

Did he pay you off anyway? or did his tens get there?

If this situation ever comes up in a live game, consider flapping your arms like a bird and shouting gibberish at the top of your lungs to add to the confusion generated by this line.

i check/call this hand to the river, where i put in a big bet.

with quads you almost always have the deck crippled. however, it does look like this guy caught a piece.

I did not think he had a very good hand, he was just a loose caller.

On the flop after his pot bet I wanted to go for a big pot, so I check-raised him instead of waiting for the turn. After his call I dont think he would call another big bet with only a pair on the turn so I checked to him. After his bet I tought that a second check-raise would let him go a pair, but he could call a river bet.

In the hand he called with 96o.

I use these goofy lines some of the times and was wondering if it would be better to simply lead, lead lead.

If he won't call a min-check-raise for $70 on the turn, then how can you believe he will call $150 on the river when you lead?
