Transcribing The Sound of A Whip
Say you're playing cards with a buddy, and about 11 PM his cell rings. He picks up, has a whispery conversation with his girlfriend, and after hanging up says, "Dude, I gotta go."
You, of course, now make the sound of a whip being cracked. Predictable, yes, but funny nevertheless. I find myself missing many oppurtunities to make this same joke over email or IM. The obvious *whipped* is unsatisfying, as are other attempts at direct transcription I'v seen ("whoo-cheesh", eg). So. Can anyone accurately transcribe the whipped sound? Many thanks in advance, gm |

Re: Transcribing The Sound of A Whip
How about whip-pshhhhh so at least they see "whip" in there and won't get confused.

Re: Transcribing The Sound of A Whip
Anybody ever see the pinball machine, "The Phantom of the Opera"?
When you dropped your ball, while you were waiting for your bonus points to tally, you could make that sound with the flipper buttons. Left button = Voop Right button = PEESH! It was the best part of the game! Voop-PEESH! Voop-PEESH! Voop, voop, voopvoopPEESH! VoopPEESHPEESHPEESH! On top of that, a woman could be heard screaming. |
